  History of Microoptics Conference

The first Microoptics Conference (MOC) was held in 1987, initiated by the Microoptcs group of Japanese Society of Applied Physics. Since its start, the conference uses English as official language; and all invited speakers are from overseas. During the conference, the MOC Award and MOC Contribution Award are presented. Also, Paper Award and Student Award are presented. The conference has single track, i.e., no parallel session is arranged.

The conference was held in odd-numbered years in Japan since 1987. In 2004; the first MOC conference outside Japan was held in Jena, Germany by Fraunhofer IOF. Ever since, this conference became an annual meeting with the odd-numbered years being held in Japan and even-numbered years outside Japan.
